We are currently recruiting candidates for post-doctoral positions in the lab. The ideal candidate would have experience in any of the following areas: electrophysiology, stereotactic surgeries, 2-photon calcium imaging, bioinformatics, as well as a background in either neuroscience or cancer related fields.
If you are interested in cancer neuroscience and want to be involved in, please send your CV and cover letter to Dr. Humsa Venkatesh (hvenkatesh@bwh.harvard.edu). Come join us where cancer meets neuroscience!
In vivo Research Support – 80%
-Collaborate closely with lab members to generate high-quality data for publications, grant proposals, and presentations.
-Assist in the design and execution of experiments related to peripheral nervous system and peripheral cancers.
-Perform precise dissections of peripheral nerve tissues from animal models.
-Assist in advanced microscopy imaging, including confocal and fluorescence microscopy, and take ownership of image acquisition, processing, and quantitative analysis.
-Perform mouse in vivo animal procedures, including dosing animals by various routes (e.g. oral, intravenous, intraperitoneal, etc.), measuring tumors by calipers, non-invasive imaging (bioluminescent imaging) and breeding of genetically engineered mouse models.
-Optimize and troubleshoot immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, and in situ hybridization protocols.
-Mentor and train new lab members and junior staff in specialized techniques such as mouse handling, genotyping, and experimental design.
Cell Culture – 10%
-Differentiate, expand, and maintain multiple iPSC lines, ensuring cell quality and reproducibility across experiments.
-Perform advanced mammalian cell culture techniques, including routine maintenance, transfection, and differentiation of various cell lines.
-Develop and maintain primary cultures from animal tissue, including neurons and glial cells.
Lab Upkeep – 10%
-Maintain a clean and well-organized work environment, ensuring proper storage of reagents, cells, and samples.
-Manage laboratory inventories, including ordering reagents and maintaining stock levels of commonly used consumables.
-Calibrate and perform routine maintenance on critical lab equipment, such as microscopes, centrifuges, and PCR machines.
-Assist in ensuring compliance with institutional biosafety, animal care, and chemical safety regulations.
-Help maintain accurate lab documentation, including protocols, experimental records, and safety data sheets.
